Longer Version of Resignation Letter – Sample Example Template

A letter of resignation doesn’t require any explanation of why you’re resigning – its job is simply to inform your current employer of what you are doing.
However, it is best practice to leave your current employer on the best possible terms, so the resignation letter is not your opportunity to rant and rave and tell your boss how much you hate him or how rubbish you think the company is.
Where possible, use some pleasant adjectives to describe your experience so that everything remains friendly. If you really cannot come up with anything positive, then it might be best to use the “Brief Letter of Resignation” or even the “Very Short Letter of Resignation”.

My last day of work will be [Date of Last Day of Work], which should allow me sufficient time to finish ongoing projects and to turn over the position to my replacement. Please feel free to contact me at any time should you have any questions regarding my past work. I am willing to assist as much as possible over this period to make the transition as smooth it can be.
My experience with [Company Name] has been very rewarding. I appreciate having had the opportunity to work for such a progressive company and within a strong team of colleagues. I wish you and the organization continued success.
